The Turn – Fourth Street
Once the flop is complete, again the dealer “burns” the top card of the deck to prevent cheating or accidental exposure. The dealer then deals one card faced up adding to the community cards in the middle of the table. Alternatively this is referred to as “Fourth Street” – all players to build a winning hand use the community cards. After the turn card has been dealt, players who are still in the game begin another round of wagers. Once again the betting begins with the small blind or, if he or she is out of the hand, the first player to his or her left. Again, players can either check, call, raise, re-raise or fold when it is their turn to bet. Once this round is completed, the time comes to deal the fifth and final card or alternatively known as "go down to the river”. |
