Never Discuss Strategy

Never Discuss Strategy

If you have ever watched televised games of Hold’em Poker, you may have noticed some of the amusing antidotes that accompany the tournament. You may have also noticed the “pot’s” reaching into the six-figure range. These are the pros and top players you are watching on television and they are top players because for one – they are good; and they have all been on the poker circuit for years. One thing they never do or have ever done is reveal their strategy. Consider your strategic methods more holy than the Colonel’s secret recipe.

Better the devil you know

The Poker pro’s have known each for years and always tries, for our amusement, to wind each other up. This is especially true if a fellow player had a bad beat. They will sometimes discuss each hand after it has been played. The discussion involves how the hand was won or lost, as well as some players admitting to their mistakes.
You will never hear any of these players discussing their playing strategy at anytime. What must be understood is that every hand of poker is unique and has to be dealt with individually. Playing poker at this very high level means developing a very complex play strategy.

Don’t Chat – Just Play

For new comers to Texas Hold’em Poker, taking part in their very first online tournament may sometimes get carried away discussing hands and overall play in chat. More experienced players will take in all of this information to use it later. And why shouldn’t they? The truth is eventually so would you.

There was a familiar slogan that the censor used during World War Two that went along the lines of, "Loose lips sinks ships". The same slogan can be used for Poker, but of course loose lips will sink “hands”. Avid Poker players are always on the lookout for new fish who feel the need to chat up a storm. The one sure sign of a new player is their inability to keep quiet. This is just one sign of a player’s weakness and lack of confidence when it comes to playing Poker. Keep in mind that only a new player will try to explain to anyone who will listen that they adamantly know about “real winning” strategies.

Keep your cards and strategy close to your chest and never let the opponents know you are just beginning. By simply keeping quiet you can ensure that your game won’t become manipulated by more experienced players. Believe us when we tell you – they are looking for you!
